A Historic Moment

The Meaning of Mikvah

Water is the primary source of all living things. It has the power to purify, to restore and replenish life. A Mikvah must be filled with living waters from a flowing source that has never been dormant, such as fresh spring water, rainwater, or even melted snow. The water is kept under strict hygienic control, cleaned daily and chlorinated. Immersion in the Mikvah has its roots in the Torah. The Mikvah has been a powerful symbol of life and rebirth for over three millennia. The word Mikvah means "hope”. It affirms Jewish continuity and is a central feature of Jewish family life.

Rededicated by Zoltan & Yetta Freeman in 1991, in memory of their beloved parents, the miraculous history of the Hamilton Mikvah is an inspirational story told worldwide.  Read the Story  Watch the Video
